White Fillings
Most people have fillings of one sort or another but today, because we are much more conscious of our smile, we can choose a natural looking alternative – the composite or tooth-coloured filling.
- A composite resin is a tooth-coloured plastic mixture filled with glass (silicon dioxide) first introduced in the 1960s.
- Originally only used for front teeth because of their softer nature, modern improvements to their composition make them generically suitable today.
- Composite fillings are more difficult to place than silver fillings so may take your dentist 15-20 minutes longer to complete and because they are considered to be a cosmetic treatment, they may not available on the NHS and must be paid for.
- The main advantage of composite fillings is their aesthetic appeal.
- The main disadvantage is their life expectancy.
White fillings have always been considered less long lasting than silver amalgam fillings but there are now new materials available with properties comparable to silver amalgam, and these are proving to be very successful. The life expectancy of your composite filling can depend on the depth of cavity and its position in the mouth; your dentist is best positioned to advise you.
Patient Review for White Fillings Treatments at Bay House Dental Practice
Having been a patient at Bay House for many years now the treatment I have received has always been excellent. The reception staff are great and always able to fit me in in an emergency. I have absolute confidence in the dentists and can’t fault the work they have done for me. Would highly recommend.

“Brilliant Dental practice. From the receptionists to the hygienists and dentists, everyone here is so lovely, warm and welcoming.
I recently joined this practice and have just completed my dental course with Dr Imran Nathoo, who is absolutely fantastic. Really good at explaining everything and making the procedures as comfortable as possible.
Never thought I would be having a chat about music and going out while having a filling but Dr Imran and his team are brilliant and great fun!
Would highly highly recommend this practice and definitely for those that are really nervous about seeing the dentist, as I was but Dr Imran really put my nerves at ease before my treatments.
Massive thank you to everyone at this practice!”

Can’t fault the service at Bay House Dental. From the front of house staff to the nurses and dentists, I have always been very well looked after. They are very accommodating if I ever need to change an appointment and I feel the recommended treatment is always appropriate for my needs. Would highly recommend them as your personal and family dentist.

“Was recommended to this practice via a friend. Really impressed by the friendly and professional staff. The lady on reception is excellent, she seems to remember every customer on sight. Had great Covid measures in place and felt very safe.
I had a thorough consultation with Imran the practice owner for a range of work that needed doing. I’m now 80% through my treatment and couldn’t be more impressed.
Thank you to everyone!
I have recommended another 2 people already.”
